Working on live electrical equipment is dangerous

Workplace Electrical Safety Award

Sep 20, 2010 - Toronto: Mr. Dave Graham, Vice-President of Robertson Bright Inc., receives the Electrical Safety Authority's inaugural award for workplace electrical safety.

Mr. Graham was President of the Greater Toronto Electrical Contractors Association from 2006 – 2007. During his term Mr. Graham initiated the Working Live Task Force, a broad-based coalition of representatives from the electrical industry interested in minimizing work done on live electrical equipment. Mr. Graham played a vital role in ensuring the Task Force focused on eliminating the demand from clients and their representatives to work on live electrical equipment.

The result of his, and the Task Force's commitment, was the launching of the "Just Don't Ask" public awareness campaign, and the resulting standard authorization form that ensures owners conduct their own due diligence prior to requesting contractors or others work on live equipment.

This campaign and the industry endorsed authorization form have played a crucial role in educating clients in the electrical industry on the dangers of working on live electrical equipment.
